About Reflective Practice's President Melodie is known for her skill and enthusiasm in helping people "be the change they want to see in the world". Reflective Practices is the result of her own reflection on the work she has done in designing and delivering personal development programs, combined with the theoretical and practical base she acquired in the areas of leadership and organization development through completing an MA in Human Systems Intervention at Concordia University and certification in executive coaching with the Professional School of Psychology in California. Melodie chose the name Reflective Practices because she believes reflection is a core component of all learning and change in whatever field we are in. It is in reflection we see a situation clearly, generate new ideas, move beyond old habits, and find our grounding to generate solutions and move ahead. The time pressure most of us face at work has squeezed out the value of reflecting as a way of learning and initiating change. In a time when the world is changing faster than we can within our organizations, it seems that a little reflection could go a long way. How can we keep up with the changes if we continue to use yesterday's solutions for today's situations? Our precious life must not be wasted. With a view that life is both precious and difficult as well as far too short, Melodie believes there is a need and urgency to learn how to work together in communities that promote growth, learning, and health for all. |
